Animation is the awakening of the doormats potential of people to change for better life, especially the poor women/men of remote villages through CBO( Community Based Organizations) and collective interventions. Attempt is made to increase the level of information knowledge and skills of people through awareness generation, trainings and capacity enhancement on a continuous basis, so that the self confidence and thinking capacity of people will lead them to behavior changes and taking better decisions for community transformation. |

Formal Education
Formal Education 88 children from poor families and majority are from Lepra colony are selected with the intention of giving quality education are admitted to prestigious schools in Pune, Hyderabad and Itarsi to build a strong foundation to face the future competitive life with confidence. |

Non - Formal Education
Non - Formal Education 30 NFE centers with 850 poor school dropouts and non school going children are enrolled for continuing the education to enable them to appear for formal village school. Preference was given to cattle rearing children. The syllabus was prepared in accordance with the life style and culture of the area and people, so that they can be out of illiteracy and learn to read and write. Teaching materials are provided in each NFE centers. Teachers are also given training and equipped to teach the children. |

Health |

Health problems and poverty in the remote villages of sendhwa, Karuna Hospital had started a separate department of Community Health and development. therefore paid special attention for facilitating health care, in terms of institutionalized as well as Institutionalised Health Care.
Karuna hospital Sendhwa, was started in the year 1978 as a dispensary and was later expanded in 1980 to a 70-bed hospital. Through a General Hospital in nature, it has special facilities of Maternity ward, operation theatres, ICU, dental clinic, Orthopedic and physiotherapy sections. It is well equipped with diagnostic facilities like X-ray, Scanning, and medical Laboratories etc. development of the vulnerable poor and the marginalized in the remote tribal hamlets. Adequate thrust is given for bringing overall development of the tribal poor and for promoting a healthy life style. Under the care of the department of Community Health many innovative interventions were introduced in the field of Health, in terms of Preventive, curative and rehabilitative Health Care, The Community Health and development department has an integrated and holistic approach to community health and currently offers programs in Five areas: |

Training of village women health workers, who are able to conduct health talk, diagnose the miner ailments and take action to refer the sick persons to the near by hospital. |

Importance is given to pregnant women for 3 antenatal checkups, supplies of, timely immunizations, promotion of hospital deliveries and postnatal care are provided. Information about nutrition, child care, diarrhea prevention, hygiene and sanitation is regularly given to the women by the community health workers.

Participation in sharing the services and resources for health care is solicited through government health care systems and other humanitarian agencies to benefit large number of poor. |

General Health Camps and Campaigns on Health Issues |

Some 20000 people are benefiting from various health awareness camps held in targeted villages. During the camp medical practitioners examine the patients and prescribe medicines for treatment. Medicines are given free of cost. Besides health awareness camps, CD shows and IEC materials beneficial to people.
Along with the department of Community Health a School of Nursing attached to the Hospital was also started in the year 1992. This has helped to train and equip the young girls to take up medical service as a profession in life. |
