Karuna Hospital was started in 1978 as a simple dispensary to provide the services in inaccessible /un reached areas of tribal population with an objective to bring positive change in the living conditions of tribal people, especially in the lives of women and young girls in 55 villages having 60,000 populations.

Later on looking to the needs of the tribal’s the institution slowly expanded additional facilities. At present the hospital have 70 bedded maternity IP ward. 2 OT theaters, pediatric unit, ICU, Dental clinic, Orthopedic & Physiotherapy unit. The hospital is well equipped with diagnostic facilities, including X ray, scanning and pathology laboratories. In order to strengthen the out reach activities, Karuna Hospital have started two satellite health centers to meet the medical needs of tribal community. 20 village volunteers with minimum wages were appointed these 55 villages to carry out the following activities: |

In addition to this Karuna Hospital is a trustee member of Harsh Nagar leprosy colony. SDM is the Chairman of this colony. Due to non availability of fund with the trustee, Karuna Hospital had to take the responsibility of the inmates of the colony. 235 inmates among 98 families are living in the colony. At present Karuna Hospital is providing the following free services to these inmates.

79 children of LAPs were sent for higher education in other states like A.P, Maharashtra & Guajarat. |

Patients with other ailments are referred to Karuna Hospital for free treatment. |
